Online Bill Pay
Bluewire is happy to announce we have added online bill pay. To utilize this service you must first call in to the accounting department (480) 214-1023 X115 and have a user name and password setup. Once this has been done you can then login by going to https://billing.bluewire.us
How does my PC need to be configured?
To have a good experience with the Bluewire service your PC must be equipped with a network interface card (NIC) to be able to connect to our equipment directly or to connect to a router, which in turn connects to our equipment. Most PCs sold today have an NIC card already installed and if not, have a PCI slot so that you can add one later. Either way, this is mandatory for you to be able to have our service.
Although we provide a safe and reliable connection to the internet, we do not offer any defense against intruders who might want to gain access to your machine and information. This protection is usually handled by your local PC and the software that is installed on it. Windows XP has an integrated firewall that you can activate or you can use third-party firewall software that is often free for download as long as it is for personal use. We do not recommend any one system but we strongly urge that you use one to protect your interests. Please consider the following for protecting your information:
- Install and/or enable a personal firewall software
- Install and/or enable anti-virus software
- Take advantage of the automatic upgrades that are available for your operating system.
Is Bluewire a satellite internet service?
Bluewire is not a satellite internet service. Bluewire offers a fixed wireless service where the signals originate here on earth, using equipment that has a direct line of sight between components. This service is typically much faster and more responsive than satellite service, where the maximum upload speed is only 40Kbps which is actually slower than a standard dial-up connection. Because a satellite service transmits signals into outer space, the distance those signals have to travel creates a tremendous amount of latency and a greater risk for lost data. On average, a terrestrial system like Bluewire will have signal travel less than 15 miles whereas a satellite system will have signal travel up to 46,000 miles! You can imagine the impact this difference can have on services such as VoIP and internet gaming.
For more information on satellite service, consult companies such as DirecTV and Star Band satellite.
What is the range of the Bluewire network?
A typical range of service for Bluewire is 10–15 miles, depending on the terrain where you live. Bluewire establishes base stations, or tower sites, from which we are able to broadcast our service. The types of antennas we use along with the height of the tower will dictate the range of that particular tower.
Our clients, whether in a home or at a business, will typically have equipment mounted on their roofs which point directly at the tower. This is why line-of-sight is mandatory for most of our service. This equipment is then connected to your computer or router via a single Cat 5 (or Ethernet) cable and powered via an AC power adapter.
